By Margaret Allen
Following the new toll schedule that went into effect last Sunday, April 11th,The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission has joined other toll collections across Pennsylvania and nationally with a price increase. The Commission urges everyone who travels on toll roads and bridges to get E-Z Pass for a much lower cost than the Cash/Toll By Plate transactions. Under the new toll schedule, the Commission’s most frequent toll transaction – a passenger vehicle equipped with E-ZPass – went up 25 cents to a $1.25 system-wide. Passenger-vehicle operators paying with cash, however, are now charged $3.00. In comparison, on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, a $1.60 toll with E-Z Pass is $3.90 for Cash/Toll By Plate transactions. Additionally, the E-Z Pass is accepted in16 states including neighboring New Jersey and New York.
