Final Mile for a True American Hero: VetStock Provides Proper Burial with Honors for Combat Veteran

By Margaret Allen
Every veteran deserves a proper burial and due respect, and that's exactly what VetStock of Pike County helped make happen earlier this month both physically and financially. Veteran Wallace Anderson Taylor was a combat veteran during WWII with the Army Air Corps in 1942 and 1943, and during the Korean War serving in two campaigns in 1951 and 1952. Originally from Kentucky Colonel Taylor, as he was come to be known by, outlived his family and was technically unclaimed. VetStock of Pike County assisted in honoring Taylor's final wishes, bringing him home with a heroes escort, respectful ceremony, and proper burial. The local organization donated $4800 to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and co-founder Tom Ryan participated in the first leg of the multi-day, Final Mile escort. The ride covered over 2,000 miles round trip over four days to Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville, KY.
