Funding for Local Projects

Over $1 million in state funding will be going towards various projects in Wayne and Pike Counties. In Wayne the Hawley Fire Department is getting $162,000 for improvements to their fire station, the Newfoundland American Legion Post 859 is getting $125,000 for renovations, Waymart borough is slated for $63,000 for construction of a storage shed, and Wayne County is receiving $187,000 for demolishing and rehabilitating the Honesdale Volunteer Ambulance Corp. building. In Pike, Bushkill Outreach will receive $225,000 to construct a new senior center in Lehman Township Park, Pike County is getting $22,600 for improvements to the training facility, $175,000 to renovate the Bennett Avenue Complex, and the Westfall Township Volunteer Fire Company was granted $100,000 for a new sign and backup generator. The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
