H'dale Mayor Canfield Responds to Lawsuit Over Police Scheduling

By Sam Miller
Honesdale Mayor Sarah Canfield issued a statement in response to the lawsuit from the Honesdale Police Officers Association accusing the Borough of unfair labor practices. In her statement, Mayor Canfield said that her January 25th order to the Borough Police Chief was directing him to schedule officers as manpower and officer safety dictated, taking the availability of other law enforcement that would provide backup into account. The Police Association is suing the Borough, claiming that Mayor Canfield’s order created an unsafe environment for the officers by removing the provision that two officers respond to incidents.
