Lower Woods Pond Rehabillitation Update

By Sam Miller
Bidding will open this month for work to repair three dams and a spillway in Wayne County. The effort is part of the plan to rehabilitate the Lower Woods Pond in Lebanon Township. The Pond was drained back in 2012. It took nearly a decade, but State Senator Lisa Baker and State Representative Johnathan Fritz joined the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to announce this new update. Once the bidding company has been selected, construction is expected to begin in the Fall of this year. The PFBC anticipates that the pond will be open to recreation again by 2023. Throughout the construction process, PFBC will be assessing the natural habitat, such as the trees and other vegetation that has grown since the lake has been dry, and will be working with local partners to add man-made fish habitat structures that will benefit aquatic life and anglers for decades to come.
