By Sam Miller
A new memorial honoring a local veteran and General will be dedicated on Memorial Day. The General Lemnitzer Memorial will be dedicated in the name of Four-Star General and Honesdale native Lyman Louis Lemnitzer. The Memorial was created by the Wayne County Historical Society who began the process in 2019. The stone memorial was created by Martin Caufield Memorial Works, Honesdale, under the direction of Phil Monaghan. It was installed at 810 Main Street, on the grounds of the WCHS Main Museum in the fall of 2020. Due to Covid-19 the memorial has not yet been dedicated. The ceremony will be held on Memorial Day, May 31st, at 1pm.
