Milford Woman Hit by Scam

By Sam Miller
The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a scam that a Milford woman reportedly fell victim to. The unnamed 59 year old woman reported the incident on Friday. Troopers arrived at the woman’s residence where she said that she had received an email, allegedly from PayPal, asking her to update her security information. She gave several details, including her social security number, driver’s license number, and credit card information via the link the email provided. Only after giving this information did she reexamine the email and note several spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. She contacted her bank and credit card company to report what happened before calling the police. Anyone who receives a suspicious email or phone call is encouraged to not respond in any way to them.
