Waymart Man Sentenced for Attempted Homicide

A Waynmart man has been sentenced in Wayne County Court for Attempted Homicide. 30 year old Jesse Skates will spend 8 to 20 years in State Prison for an incident on December 4th of 2019. Skates pled guilty to breaking into a residence with a small caliber rifle. He was confronted by the residents inside the home, and in the ensuing argument shot one of the victims in the face with the rifle. After a struggle the rifle was broken and Skates pulled a pocket knife. He then cut at and bit the shot victim before fleeing in a vehicle. Skates was found by police in that vehicle on Elk Lake Drive and was taken into custody after a brief chase. The victim was taken to receive medical attention for the wounds.
