Wayne County Applies for Grants to Fund River Trail Project
The community has raised over $150,000 in the ongoing efforts to create a walking trail between Hawley and Honesdale along the Lackawaxen River. The plans advanced yesterday with Wayne County applying for two grants to construct river access points. The grants from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will go towards the building at Industrial Point and in White Mills. The County just recently leased the property in White Mills for this very project. The $150,000 was raised by the Wayne Pike Trails and Waterways Alliance to fund the match for the grants. Wayne County also entered into a deal with the Alliance for trail maintenance.
