Wayne County Distributes Hotel Tax Funds, Plans Second Application Period

By Sam Miller
Nearly $62,000 will be going to ten Wayne County businesses and organizations to promote events and activities that encourage overnight stays in the county. Every year the County distributes Hotel Tax money to promote tourism. The awards are reviewed by the County’s Hotel Tax Advisory Board in conjunction with the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, which administers the fund and assists the grantees in meeting their marketing goals. The County hopes to reopen applications later this spring for a second round of funds, due to the ever changing nature of COVID-19 restrictions making some organizations hesitant to apply.
