Wayne County Reallocating Unspent Funds to Improve Roads, Fight Homelessness

By Sam Miller
Wayne County is moving unspent money through the Community Development Block Grant Program to fund projects elsewhere in the County. $4501.03 in unspent funds from 2016 in Salem Township for road improvement was moved to improvements for Watts and Walker Roads. $1140 in unspent 2018 funds for a project in Starrucca Borough will now go to improving Fairmount Road. These funds came from projects that were completed under the expected cost, leaving surplus money for the County to put to further use. In other County funding news, the Commissioners also moved $60,500 this week to hotel and rental assistance in order to help prevent homelessness in the County.
